Former Leeds United midfielder Gordon Strachan has expressed his support for Daniel Farke following the team’s 1-0 victory over table-topping Leicester City. Strachan, a Leeds legend, believes that the club has the right person in charge and is confident that Farke will guide them back to the Premier League.
Farke has previously won the Championship title twice with Norwich City, and he was chosen to lead Leeds after the vacancy opened up. Currently, his Leeds side is finding its form and sits in third place in the Championship table after defeating the current top two teams.
In an interview with ICE36, Strachan stated, “I was delighted with the Leeds result against Leicester. Daniel Farke is a manager who is intimately familiar with the Championship, and he knows how to secure promotions for teams. I believe that Farke will return Leeds to the Premier League, whether it happens this year or certainly next.”
He also discussed the challenging start Leeds had, attributing it to the players still grappling with the aftermath of their disappointing Premier League season. Strachan mentioned that the team’s performance in the Premier League’s closing stages left them with a hangover, which takes time to overcome.
Strachan pointed out that the addition of Glen Kamara and young Archie Gray has injected freshness into the team, and players who weren’t heavily involved in the relegation struggle have provided a boost. He expressed his delight in seeing Leeds perform well and emphasized that the Premier League is missing something without their presence, suggesting that the league would benefit from their return.
