West Bromwich Albion considering move for 24-years-old outstanding striker deal amid ‘red alert’ update

West Brom is reportedly considering a move for Ben Brereton Diaz in the upcoming January transfer window. Villarreal is open to loaning the Chilean international, and several teams are showing interest in his services, including Crystal Palace and Burnley from the Premier League, as well as Championship rivals Southampton and Leicester City.

Ben Brereton Diaz had an impressive stint with Blackburn Rovers, scoring 14 goals in the Championship last season and 22 goals in the campaign before. However, his transition to La Liga with Villarreal has been challenging, as he has yet to score in 10 appearances across all competitions.

Despite the interest in him from both the Championship and the lower end of the Premier League last season, his move to Villarreal was somewhat surprising. Given his struggles in Spain, he may be inclined to return to a division where he has previously excelled to regain his form, especially with Premier League options available.

Currently, West Brom and Southampton are in close proximity in the Championship table, with Leicester leading the league. West Brom’s attacking options have been hampered by injuries, with Daryl Dike and Josh Maja facing setbacks. This might make West Brom an attractive choice for Brereton Diaz, as they are well-positioned for a playoff spot and offer greater opportunities for him to make an impact.
