Newcastle United is reportedly contemplating a significant January proposal for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who is drawing interest from various Premier League teams.
The Magpies have had a promising start to the season, securing 20 points from 11 Premier League matches and currently holding the sixth position in the table.
Eddie Howe is eager to strengthen his squad this winter, particularly eyeing a new winger to provide competition for players like Anthony Gordon and the presently injured Harvey Barnes.
As previously noted by Football365, Newcastle has been keen on Chiesa for a while, and Manchester United also holds an admiration for the player.
Chiesa, who joined Juventus in 2022, has been a crucial figure for the Italian club. Despite facing injury challenges last season, he appears to have rediscovered his form.
In the current season, Chiesa has made 10 Serie A appearances, scoring four goals and contributing one assist.
The 26-year-old boasts considerable experience at the top level, featuring in 13 Champions League matches and being part of the Italy team that clinched the European Championships in 2020.
According to Italian outlet Tutto Juve, there is a possibility that Juventus might sell Chiesa in January if he doesn’t extend his contract soon. His existing deal is set to expire in 2025, and his wage demands might exceed what Juventus is willing to pay, prompting a potential sale.
The report suggests that Chiesa has attracted ‘multiple suitors’ in England, and Newcastle is reportedly ‘preparing an offer’ for him in January, willing to bid more than €60m (approximately £52.3m) for his services.
However, they face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea, who are also reportedly contemplating offers in the winter transfer window.
Tutto Juve emphasizes that Chiesa ‘will only remain with Juventus in the event of a contract renewal,’ which currently seems unlikely.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Manchester United will make a concrete offer for Chiesa in January.
