West Brom loanee makes decision on his future after starring away from Hawthorns

After catching the eye with Doncaster Rovers, West Brom loanee Mo Faal has stated his intention to represent The Gambia at international level.

Faal joined the League Two club on loan for a season in the summer and has scored five goals in his last ten games.

The 20-year-old has yet to represent any country at the age-grade level, but he would like to play for his birth country if given the chance.

“I was born in Gambia; that’s where I’m from and where my family is from,” he told the Doncaster Free Press [9 November].

“I believe that everyone would be proud of me if I were to represent The Gambia.” “All I have to do now is wait.”

Faal moved from The Gambia to Birmingham when he was seven years old, so he has lived more than half of his life in England.

However, his decision to dedicate his allegiance to his homeland is admirable, and you have to think he’ll be capped soon.

The teenager is scoring well in the fourth division and could be a part of Carlos Corberan’s plans for the 2024-25 season.

Doncaster manager Grant McCann reportedly stated that Faal will “be unplayable” in the next years, indicating that the club has high expectations for him.

This is Faal’s fourth loan term, but it doesn’t mean Albion have no hopes for him in the future.

Indeed, the fact that he was introduced in April’s league defeat to Sunderland indicates that Corberan loves what he sees in him.

It is now up to Faal to maintain his strong level of performance in order to earn a position in the squads of both West Brom and The Gambia.
