Dan Ashworth exerted significant effort last summer to secure the acquisition of Tino Livramento from Southampton. The right back, hailing from Croydon, celebrated his 21st birthday last Sunday and was a regular player for Southampton at the time, boasting 34 appearances, one goal, and two assists.

The transfer raised eyebrows in Tyneside due to Southampton’s initial £40 million valuation for the 20-year-old player. Despite this, Ashworth persisted and successfully negotiated a deal for an initial £32 million with an additional £8 million contingent on Livramento achieving specific goals at Newcastle.

In his first three starts, Livramento earned the Man of the Match title, showcasing his readiness to become a regular player for Newcastle. With Dan Burn sidelined for a few months due to a back injury, Livramento is poised to gain valuable first-team playing time. There’s also the possibility of Kieran Trippier shifting to left back to accommodate Livramento in the starting lineup.

“The move was a tough decision, don’t get me wrong,”

“Anyone in my position, to have that opportunity, would do what I’ve done.”

“It’s a new experience, not only a new club but a new part of England all the way up north. It’s been exciting.”

“There are a lot of fans you see when you go out for a coffee but they’re always respectful, nice and kind.”

“It feels like a family up there, everyone loves you.”

Currently representing the England U21 side, Livramento expressed satisfaction with life at Newcastle in an interview with the Mail. The young player’s promising performance suggests he could potentially become a future superstar for both Newcastle and England. Under the guidance of manager Eddie Howe, Livramento appears to be developing into a polished player, marking yet another successful signing by Dan Ashworth and his talented team for Newcastle.
