Heat's Jimmy Butler takes hilarious shot at Duncan Robinson about 'best 3-point shooter' on team

The Miami Heat secured their seventh consecutive victory by defeating the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night, with standout performances from Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson taking the spotlight. Notably, both players showcased their prowess from beyond the arc, leading to some playful banter from Butler directed at Robinson post-game.

Butler, while commending Robinson’s overall performance, humorously pointed out that Robinson isn’t technically the best three-point shooter on the Heat roster. Despite Robinson’s reputation for his deep shooting ability, Butler highlighted the diverse skill set that often goes overlooked, including ball-handling, lob passes, rim finishing, and free-throw proficiency.

Analyzing the statistics, Butler’s claim isn’t entirely unfounded, as he boasts a 50 percent success rate from three for the season, whereas Robinson stands at 36.3 percent. The difference in shot attempts also plays a role, with Robinson taking more shots than Butler.

During the game, after making a three-pointer, Butler gestured a “50” with his hands, expressing his goal to maintain a 50 percent three-point shooting average. In response, Robinson, when sarcastically asked about the relief of Butler shooting at 50 percent, played along with the joke, acknowledging Butler’s exceptional skill.

In addition to their three-point contributions, Butler had a standout performance, scoring a season-high 36 points, 18 of which came in the third quarter. Despite his personal achievements, Butler emphasized the team’s overall success, particularly in defensive efforts during the second half.

Robinson continued his impressive streak with 26 points against the Nets, making 60 percent of his three-point attempts. He attributed his recent success to facing different defensive coverages and diversifying his offensive approach beyond three-point shooting.

As the Heat embark on a challenging five-game road trip, fans are eager to witness more stellar performances from Butler and Robinson, starting with a matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, with hopes of extending their winning streak to eight games.
