Florin Manea, Radu Drăgușin’s agent, revealed on October 24th that he had conversations with Newcastle United about a prospective transfer for the Genoa star. His mother had also mentioned a possible transfer to England.
Later that month, the agency backed up the Magpies’ interest, stating that the Serie A club would want about €30 million to ratify the defender’s sale.
Gianluca Di Marzio said earlier this week that the 21-year-old’s contract will be extended. TuttoMercatoWeb reported two days ago that the new contract would include a gentleman’s agreement, allowing Newcastle to sign the defender for roughly €30 million.
Following the rumors of interest from the Premier League and others, Romania’s Digi Sport contacted the centre-back to obtain an update on his future plans.
“I’m fine; I’m in great shape.” I’m having one of those moments that can only make me joyful. “I will not leave Genoa; we are negotiating a new contract, but these are secondary concerns,” he stated.
“It is critical to have results and a championship that is as simple as possible.” It’s a pretty lovely sensation. It signifies that your work is also valued by others. My main goal is to grow and evolve as much as possible.”
The Romania international’s fresh statements could be a setback for Eddie Howe’s side, as his agent previously stated Newcastle’s intention to sign him.
This season, Drăgușin has one goal and one assist in 14 games. Last Friday, he scored in Genoa’s 1-0 win over Hellas Verona.
