Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino supports the club’s decision to sell Lewis Hall, expressing confidence that Newcastle United has acquired a player with a promising future. Despite parting ways with one of their brightest young talents, Pochettino acknowledges Hall’s potential and believes the move is mutually beneficial for both the player and the club.

During the summer, Newcastle secured the services of Lewis Hall on an initial loan deal, which will be converted into a permanent transfer valued at £28 million in the summer of 2024. The Magpies are making a significant investment in Hall, holding high expectations for the 19-year-old left-back.

While acknowledging that Hall has only showcased glimpses of his talent, particularly in a standout performance at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup, Pochettino expresses satisfaction with the player’s efforts in training under Eddie Howe. Despite the disappointment at Chelsea when Hall left, Pochettino has no regrets about the decision.

In a media interaction ahead of the Newcastle vs. Chelsea match, Pochettino states, “The player and the club took the best decision for both sides,” adding that Hall, though unlucky to have limited playing time at Chelsea, has a promising future, and he hopes the player settles well at Newcastle.

Due to the loan agreement, Hall is ineligible to play against his parent club, and this restriction will continue when the two teams meet in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge next month. While this is a setback for Eddie Howe’s squad, Pochettino anticipates that Hall will have opportunities to showcase his abilities against Chelsea in the 2024/25 campaign and beyond.

Pochettino’s positive remarks about Hall underscore the player’s potential, and any disappointment Chelsea felt when allowing him to join Newcastle is expected to intensify as Hall progresses and fulfills his anticipated potential.
