Bradford City have had to adapt to a third managerial voice in less than two months, according to Ciaran Kelly, but are beginning to thrive under new boss Graham Alexander.
The Bantams earned their first win under Alexander on Saturday, a 1-0 success over Accrington Stanley in his third League Two game in command.
Kelly had fallen out of favor under Mark Hughes, but he has been a driving force this week after coming on as a half-time substitute against Notts County when City were 4-0 down.
Bradford have outscored their opponents 8-1 in five halves since Kelly came on, with Kelly even creating up Tyler Smith’s winner against Accrington Stanley.
“I’ve had that spell out, but if I’ve been waiting for my chance, and hopefully I’ve taken that today,” the 25-year-old Irishman remarked.
“We have a massive squad and great players, we’re all pushing each other and thankfully I got my chance.”
Kelly was one of the guys that admired Alexander’s work ethic. “It’s only been a few weeks, he’s still finding his feet, but we’re doing a lot of running and training’s been tough,” Kelly said, adding that players have had to adjust to having three different voices, with Alexander coming after Mark Hughes and Kevin McDonald.
“It’s difficult because they all have their own tactics and desires, but at the end of the day, you’re a football player and you have to do what they want.” Hopefully, we’re doing that now, and things are really clicking with the new gaffer.
“It’s never going to be vastly different, just a few different things with corner set-ups etc, but we’ve brought it into the games.”
