Hamilton slammed by F1 rival after Abu Dhabi incident

Pierre Gasly expressed his astonishment at Lewis Hamilton’s actions, which adversely affected his performance in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The incident occurred when Gasly and Hamilton were contending for 10th place, and Gasly, experiencing a lock-up, saw Hamilton collide with the back of his Alpine at turn six in Yas Marina Circuit. While Hamilton’s car sustained minimal damage, Gasly’s machine suffered significant harm, resulting in a 13th-place finish.

Reflecting on the incident, Gasly attributed the blame largely to Hamilton, asserting that the seven-time world champion was responsible for the damage to his car. Despite Hamilton finishing ninth and contributing to Mercedes securing second place in the constructors’ championship, Gasly expressed his disappointment with the outcome.

Gasly shared his perspective on the collision, noting, “It wasn’t my day. I braked late, and I was surprised that he continued, thinking he might have gone straight if I wasn’t there. Despite my late braking causing some front graining and a slight lock-up, I still made the corner.

However, Hamilton seemed to miss the braking point and collided with the back of my car, causing significant impact and damaging the diffuser. It wasn’t a favorable situation.”

Despite the incident being investigated, Hamilton was not penalized by the stewards. Gasly expressed his dissatisfaction with this decision, considering it harsh, as it resulted in him losing valuable race time that was beyond his control.
