Mercedes is looking into a possible component failure that caused George Russell to crash at the Abu Dhabi post-season F1 test.

According to a Mercedes representative, the incident was caused by “some sort of failure” that the team is currently analyzing.

Mercedes has confirmed that Russell is “completely fine” and that his running for the day is complete.
Russell was performing Pirelli running for Mercedes in Abu Dhabi as part of a combination tyre and young driver test.
Russell had completed 58 laps and had the seventh-fastest time at the time of his crash.
