Faal transferred to the Rovers from the Baggies on a season-long loan and has consistently performed well, scoring eight goals in 24 appearances, aiding the team in avoiding the League Two relegation zone.
After a successful start with his loan club, McCann disclosed the presence of a review clause in Faal’s contract that could be activated during the winter transfer window. McCann mentioned the need for agreement between both clubs regarding such clauses and emphasized ongoing discussions with West Brom due to Faal’s impressive performance and significant game time, which contributes to his development.
Despite making only two senior appearances for West Brom, Faal gained valuable experience through loan spells at Hereford, Telford, and AFC Fylde. His loan stints have proven increasingly positive, exemplified by scoring 10 goals in 16 games with AFC Fylde but facing a goal drought in seven appearances for Telford.
Faal’s current good form is attributed to growing confidence. While the transition from League Two to the Championship poses a challenge, West Brom’s striker situation, compounded by Daryl Dike’s injury, may necessitate Faal’s return. Brandon Thomas-Asante, temporarily filling the center-forward position, has struggled to score, and alternative options like Josh Maja, Matt Phillips, Jed Wallace, or John Swift have not provided a long-term solution.
Considering Faal’s consistent performances, there is a suggestion that he might return to the Hawthorns soon. With West Brom pushing for Championship promotion, having a versatile and effective attacking option like Faal could prove crucial in securing victories or turning around losing situations, providing Carlos Corberan with a well-equipped squad for the remainder of the season.
