Tomasson initially received a booking for expressing his dissatisfaction, but moments later, he was handed a straight red card. Consequently, the Rovers head coach was unable to address the media, both internally and externally, after the game.

It is believed that Tomasson was cautioned for reacting emotionally to the second goal being granted, although the exact reason for his subsequent dismissal remains unclear. Referee David Webb seemed to issue a direct red card, as opposed to two yellow cards, which would have triggered an automatic one-game suspension upon an inevitable charge from The FA.

Had Tomasson received two yellow cards, he might have avoided a ban and instead faced a fine, similar to the situation with West Brom manager Carlos Corberan earlier in the season. Corberan accepted the charges related to protesting an Albion penalty and leaving his technical area, thereby sidestepping a ban.

In the event of a ban for Tomasson, he would only be permitted to communicate with his team through a mobile device or a designated ‘runner.’ Touchline access, including during warm-ups, would be denied. However, he could still enter the dressing room to interact with players before and after the game. The primary disruption would be Tomasson observing the match from the stands, while assistant coaches Remi Reynierse and Ben Benson are likely to convey instructions directly to the players.

The match at Ewood Park has a 12:30 pm kickoff, based on police advice. The Whites are anticipated to sell out their allocation of over 7,000 away tickets, making it one of the highest attendances of the season.
