The FIA has released a statement following a recent media report that raised concerns about Toto Wolff obtaining confidential information last year. The allegations surfaced in a Formula 1 magazine, suggesting a potential transfer of information from a Formula 1 employee to the Mercedes team principal.
In response to the media speculation, the FIA issued a statement acknowledging the allegations of confidential information being shared with an F1 team principal by a member of FOM personnel. The FIA Compliance Department is currently investigating the matter.
Motorsport has identified the individuals under investigation as the husband and wife duo, Toto and Susie. Toto Wolff serves as the team principal of Mercedes, while Susie holds the position of managing director at the F1 Academy. Concerns have arisen regarding the nature of their roles, leading to complaints and suspicions of a possible conflict of interest.
The contention is that Toto may have access to information about the Formula One Group through his wife’s role at the F1 Academy, and Susie could be privy to details from F1 team boss meetings via her connection to Toto.
Amidst complaints from rival team principals regarding the potential conflict of interest, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has taken action. The FIA Compliance Department is actively investigating the matter to ensure transparency and address any concerns raised.
