The 2024 Formula 1 calendar will incorporate sprint races in six rounds, marking a notable change. Two venues, China and Miami, will host sprint races for the first time in F1 history.
Sprint races were initially introduced by F1 in 2021, featuring in three weekends, and this number expanded to six in 2022, maintaining the same count ever since. Over the past three years, there have been adjustments to the format, with the top eight finishers now earning points, a shift from the top three only receiving points as was the case in 2021.
While there are anticipated modifications to the sprint weekend structure in 2024, the precise details of the new format are yet to be confirmed.
The six sprint races in the 2024 season will be held in China, Miami, Austria, Austin, Brazil, and Qatar. Of these, China and Miami will be hosting F1 sprint races for the first time. Qatar and Austin will host their second sprint races, following their debut in 2023. Brazil remains the sole venue to host a sprint race every year, while Austria will organize its third sprint race in 2024.
