Callum Wilson is confident that Newcastle United is an attractive destination for potential transfers, especially with the winter transfer window approaching. Recent rumors have linked Newcastle to Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has fallen out of favor under Mikel Arteta. The speculation gained momentum after Nick Pope, Newcastle’s goalkeeper, suffered a potential season-ending shoulder injury against Manchester United.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has also been mentioned as a potential target for Newcastle in January. When asked about the transfer rumors, Wilson, who was Ramsdale’s teammate at AFC Bournemouth, expressed optimism about Newcastle’s appeal.
Wilson stated, “I’m sure everyone wants to come to Newcastle right now. Because it’s a club to be at, really. We’re playing good football, we’re in the Champions League, pushing again this season. We’ve got quarter-finals, and Sunderland coming up in January, so there’s a lot of appetite for people to want to come and join us.”
Currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, Wilson provided an update on his fitness. He mentioned that things are progressing well, expressing a sense of readiness to return to training soon. Wilson emphasized the need to support his teammate Alex Isak and alleviate the demands on the players amid the current challenging schedule.
