Ricky Wilson reveals surprising reason why the Kaiser Chiefs went on early at the Big Thank You tour in London

During Ricky Wilson’s drive time show on Virgin Radio, the Kaiser Chiefs frontman shared a heartwarming personal incident that occurred at a London show last year. This revelation unfolded while he was promoting a competition for a chance to win tickets to their 2024 tour in support of their “Easy Eighth” album, featuring Nile Rodgers.

Detailing the competition, Ricky said, “I’m giving you the chance to win tickets to the Kaiser Chiefs 2024 tour. They’re great players, myself and the band.” After praising the band, he humorously reminded everyone of his involvement and announced the “Easy Eight” tour, consisting of eight gigs for the eighth album.

He explained the competition process, urging listeners to register on the website and be ready to answer the phone with the phrase “Oh my god, I can’t believe it” if they win. The first caller, Mr. David Stafford from London, excitedly exclaimed the key phrase, winning tickets to see the Kaiser Chiefs.

As the conversation turned to David’s plans for the gig, he revealed seeing the band at Wembley during the Big Thank You tour in support of NHS workers. Ricky then recalled a significant life event: going on stage early at Wembley because he received a call from his wife informing him that their twins were being born at the Portland Hospital.

David, not fazed by the news, shared that his daughter was due in two weeks, prompting Ricky to suggest naming the baby “Riot” instead of Ruby. The conversation ended with Ricky dedicating the show to David’s upcoming baby.

Throughout the week on his drive time show, Ricky Wilson offered listeners the chance to win tickets to their tour by registering on the website. The selected winners would receive a call between Monday, November 6th, and Friday, November 10th, 2023, and had to answer the phone with the specified phrase to claim their tickets.
