Damon Hill admits he would love to see one F1 driver team up with Max Verstappen at Le Mans
Damon Hill, a renowned Formula 1 figure, has expressed his desire to witness a current Formula 1 driver join forces with Max Verstappen at Le Mans in the future. Hill shared his thoughts about the endurance championship on social media in response to discussions surrounding the Dutch world champion. Despite being just 26 and at the pinnacle of Formula 1, Verstappen has acknowledged the possibility of participating in Le Mans once he decides to step away from F1.
Verstappen’s dominance in Formula 1, marked by 19 victories last season, makes it challenging to envision him growing bored with the sport. However, with the looming major regulation changes in 2026, he is already contemplating future challenges. Le Mans has caught Verstappen’s interest, and Hill is enthusiastic about the prospect of him teaming up with Fernando Alonso.
In a recent statement, Verstappen expressed his desire to compete in Le Mans, reminiscing about the captivating atmosphere and discussing the possibility with Alonso, who showed interest in partnering with him again. Hill, in response to Verstappen’s remarks, labeled the duo as the “Dream team” for Le Mans.
Highlighting Verstappen’s remarkable concentration, evidenced by becoming the third Formula 1 driver to complete every lap in a season, the narrative explores the potential Le Mans collaboration between Verstappen and Alonso. However, given Alonso’s age of 42 and his aspirations to return to the Dakar Rally, the timeframe for this partnership may be limited.
Despite rumors of Alonso replacing Sergio Perez in F1, it seems unlikely that Verstappen and Alonso will be F1 teammates. Alonso’s focus remains on elevating Aston Martin’s performance in the Constructors’ Championship, aiming for improvement in the 2024 season.
