Mariners pitcher “drawing trade interest” could be Braves target
The Braves have been actively searching for a starting pitcher, but so far, they haven’t been successful in acquiring one. They were in the running for Aaron Nola and reportedly offered him a significant six-year deal, which would have been the largest free-agent contract in the history of the franchise if he had accepted.
Alex Anthopoulos confirmed the team’s involvement in discussions with both free agents and potential trade targets, but as of now, nothing has materialized. Another potential option has emerged, with the Mariners receiving consistent trade interest in pitcher Bryce Miller, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
While Miller may not be the frontline starter that many Braves fans are hoping for, he could still strengthen the team’s rotation. In the 2023 season, Miller had an 8-7 record in 25 starts with a 4.32 ERA, striking out 119 batters in 131.1 innings. However, his performance had two distinct phases.
Mariners RHP Bryce Miller is drawing steady trade interest, as Seattle looks to add offense despite payroll limits.
It is difficult to envision Miller being dealt unless the Mariners (a) acquire an impact bat in the trade and (b) also add a starter via trade or FA.@MLBNetwork

In his initial 13 starts, he posted a respectable 3.50 ERA and limited opposing batters to a .204 average over 69.1 innings, an impressive feat for a newcomer. Although he struggled to maintain consistency, Seattle, known for developing pitching talent, holds Miller in high regard. Morosi mentioned that it’s unlikely Miller will be traded unless the Mariners can secure an impact bat or another starting pitcher through a trade or free agency.
The Braves and Mariners have previously completed a deal, bringing Jarred Kelenic to Atlanta in a transaction that essentially served as a salary dump for Seattle. Given the Braves’ surplus of offensive talent, there could be potential for another deal. Players like Vaughn Grissom, Marcell Ozuna, and Travis d’Arnaud might be of interest to a Mariners offense in need of a talent infusion.
