‘Showing More and More!’ Cowboys Plans for Martavis Bryant?

The Buffalo Bills will host the Dallas Cowboys in Western New York in a crucial Sunday game with playoff implications for both teams. Dallas is vying for the NFC East, while Buffalo is on the verge of slipping back into the mix of average AFC teams with a potential loss. In Week 15, the Cowboys will be without receiver Martavis Bryant, who remains on the practice squad. Despite returning to football after a five-year hiatus, Bryant is seen more as a long-term project than an immediate reinforcement for the playoff push. Head coach Mike McCarthy expressed his admiration for Bryant on Friday, acknowledging his positive impact since joining the team and highlighting his progress in overcoming conditioning challenges.

Mike McCarthy on Cowboys WR Martavis Bryant: 'Shown more and more with each opportunity'

McCarthy mentioned, “I really like him. He’s done a really, really good job coming in here, fitting in here.” He acknowledged the conditioning hurdle Bryant faced due to his extended absence from the game but noted the receiver’s improvement with each opportunity. Despite Bryant not playing in Week 15, the coaching staff is closely monitoring his development. With recent standout performances from other receiving options like Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup, the pressure for Bryant to quickly integrate into the team has eased. Gallup scored a touchdown in the previous week’s victory, and Cooks has consistently surpassed 40 yards in five games since the Week 7 bye.

The offense is performing well at a critical juncture, allowing Bryant to familiarize himself with the Cowboys’ culture, which has embraced him. McCarthy praised Bryant’s excellent personality and emphasized his commitment to doing everything right. While Bryant may not take the field in Week 15, it doesn’t necessarily indicate his future absence. Given potential changes in the roster and Gallup not meeting season-long expectations, Bryant has a genuine chance to secure a spot on the team next season.
