Barry Bannan names the ‘brilliant’ Sheffield Wednesday star who’s impressed him

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has commended Bailey Cadamarteri, praising the young striker who has successfully netted three senior goals after being given a chance to showcase his skills by manager Danny Rohl.

In the recent match against QPR at Hillsborough, Cadamarteri contributed a goal as Sheffield Wednesday secured another crucial three points, bringing them within six points of escaping the relegation zone. At just 18 years old, Cadamarteri is enjoying a remarkable breakout season, initially impressing with double-figure performances for the under-21s at the start of the campaign, leading to Rohl offering him an opportunity in the senior squad.

Cadamarteri has seized the chance and is now establishing himself as an indispensable member of the Wednesday team. Barry Bannan, clearly impressed with the young talent, has spoken highly of Cadamarteri’s achievements and contributions.

Wednesday Cadmarteri

He told The Star: “He’s done really well. He’s got three goals now and he’s stepped in when people have been out injured. He’s brought his goalscoring from the under-21s onto this scene and he’s been brilliant so far.
“He got a new contract, deservedly so, and it’s about knuckling down now. It’s only the start, he’s got good people in front of him here he can learn from off the pitch and on it as well. He’s in a good place and long may it continue.”

Cardamarteri can star under influence of Rohl

The forward recently inked a lengthy contract with the club, indicating a commitment to furthering his development with Wednesday for many years to come. Cadamarteri has seamlessly adapted to life in the Championship, showcasing a notable performance. While he must continue to enhance his skills, there is substantial evidence under Rohl’s guidance that he can achieve further improvement.

Cadamarteri consistently puts in a strong effort in each game, earning recognition from Wednesday fans. Additionally, he has strategically positioned himself to secure three well-deserved goals. Bannan rightly emphasizes that it’s now crucial for the young player to focus and demonstrate that his initial success in the first team is not a fleeting occurrence.

Described as an energetic striker, Cadamarteri’s contributions are evident. Even if the Owls secure another standout player next month, the emphasis should be on supporting and nurturing the young talent rather than hindering his progress.
