Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has confirmed John Buckley is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after surgery on a shoulder injury
Sheffield Wednesday will be missing midfielder John Buckley, who is on loan from Blackburn Rovers, for an undisclosed period after undergoing surgery this week. The 24-year-old, who came on as a substitute in the second half against Queens Park Rangers, had to leave the game early due to a tough challenge, resulting in a shoulder injury.
Owls manager Danny Röhl confirmed the extent of Buckley’s injury, stating that he will be sidelined for the coming weeks. Röhl mentioned that he spoke to Buckley and expressed well-wishes, emphasizing the team’s commitment to supporting his quick recovery. Reflecting on the incident, Röhl noted his concern for Buckley’s shoulder, drawing on his own experience with a similar injury when he was younger.
Regarding Buckley’s future with the club, uncertainties arise as Blackburn has a break clause in his loan agreement. Despite this, Röhl stressed that it’s premature to make decisions, focusing first on monitoring the success of Buckley’s operation and prioritizing his recovery.
Röhl acknowledged the challenge for Buckley, who had eagerly awaited his opportunity and attempted to continue playing despite the injury. The manager highlighted the difficulty in making the right decision for Buckley’s well-being, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing his health over the desire to play.
