Lewis Hamilton tests new Mercedes and makes big 'power' claim

Hamilton recently tested the latest Mercedes F1 cars, and his experience behind the wheel appears to have rejuvenated his enthusiasm. Despite the challenging end to the 2021 season, where he narrowly missed out on the title, Hamilton has yet to reclaim the top spot on the podium, with Red Bull and Max Verstappen dominating the recent championships.

However, the seven-time champion expressed his excitement about the newest Mercedes model, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+. He praised the vehicle’s balance, its ability to handle curbs, and its smooth steering. Hamilton was particularly impressed with the car’s “delivery” as it exceeded 220kph.

Mercedes shared Hamilton’s lap with their virtual entertainment fans, releasing a video that provides a 360-degree view of the experience, aiming to offer a more immersive feel to the drive.

Looking ahead, Hamilton hopes that the new Formula 1 car for the upcoming season will bring more advantages as he seeks to secure his record eighth championship. Despite finishing behind the Red Bull drivers in the previous season, Hamilton believes that a new design could propel him back into the title race. Verstappen is expected to begin the season as the frontrunner, aiming for a fourth consecutive championship.

While Mercedes finished as the runners-up to Red Bull, they were a significant 451 points behind. Hamilton remains optimistic that his team can narrow the gap to Red Bull in 2024 after getting a glimpse of the team’s 2024 car, likely to be named the W15, during its first aerodynamic testing.
