Report: Danny Rohl now drops huge hint on Sheffield Wednesday key players contracts with possible departure from Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday have a number of players out of contract next summer, with some of them key players.

Di’Shon Bernard, Will Vaulks, Liam Palmer, Dominic Iorfa, Barry Bannan, Cameron Dawson, Josh Windass, Tyreeq Bakinson, George Byers, and Lee Gregory are among the Sheffield Wednesday players whose contracts expire next summer.

When you add in the five players now on loan at Hillsborough, Jeff Hendrick, John Buckley, Devin Vasquez, Momo Diaby, and Ashley Fletcher, Sheffield Wednesday’s first-team roster might look very different come the start of the 2024/25 season.

But manager Danny Rohl is already looking at player contracts, and the German claims he has a list of players he wants to sign new contracts with.

Danny Rohl hoping for contract talks in the coming weeks

Speaking in anticipation of the upcoming Championship clash against Cardiff City, Rohl disclosed that he has compiled a list of players he aims to secure new contracts for before the next season. He conveyed this information to The Star, emphasizing the need to address this matter in the coming weeks and months. Rohl explained that he must engage in discussions with both players and their agents to provide clarity on the club’s direction.

Despite the team’s current struggle to avoid relegation and the imperative to focus on the immediate challenge, Rohl stressed the importance of simultaneously preparing for the future. He assured that there is a well-defined plan for the upcoming weeks and months, but expressed a reluctance to divulge too much information on ongoing negotiations. The team, currently positioned in 23rd place and trailing by six points in the Championship table, remains dedicated to the primary goal of moving out of the bottom three.
