On Thursday morning, former Northwestern offensive lineman Josh Priebe announced on his social media that he has made a commitment to join the Michigan Wolverines through the transfer portal. Having spent the past four seasons as a Wildcat, Priebe’s journey includes playing eight games as a true freshman in 2020, starting and appearing in nine games as a sophomore in 2021, and making seven starts (eight appearances) in 2022. As the captain in 2023, he played a crucial role at left guard, starting all 12 games and earning All-Big Ten Third-Team honors.

Originally from Edwardsburg, Michigan, Priebe was a three-star prospect in the 2020 class, ranked as the No. 435 overall player and the No. 20 offensive guard in 247Sports’ composite rankings. Although Michigan initially showed mild interest in him, he received offers from other notable schools such as Ohio State, Michigan State, Nebraska, Auburn, Miami, and Tennessee during his high school recruitment.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 310 pounds, Priebe specializes as an interior offensive lineman. This is particularly significant for Michigan as they are set to lose all of their interior offensive linemen after the season, including left guard Trevor Keegan, center Drake Nugent, and right guard Zak Zinter, who are all heading to the NFL Draft. With Priebe’s commitment, the Wolverines now have another experienced player to complement other interior linemen like Giovanni El-Hadi, Greg Crippen, and Raheem Anderson.

Priebe becomes the second player to commit to Michigan from the transfer portal this winter, joining former Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham.
