Breaking News: Cowboys confirms another Signing of Veteran Linebacker To Practice Squad

With an 11-5 record, the Dallas Cowboys are currently engaged in a competitive battle for supremacy in the NFC East. However, their recent performance might not align with the powerhouse image they had just weeks ago.

Following a narrow one-point victory over the Detroit Lions, where they allowed 420 total yards of offense, the Cowboys are addressing defensive concerns by signing linebacker Damien Wilson, according to Jeremy Fowler. Despite eight seasons in the NFL, Wilson has yet to play this season.

Originally drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round in 2015, Wilson started 22 games over the next three years after serving as a rookie season backup. He then joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, winning a Super Bowl championship that season while starting in every game.

KC Chiefs: Could Damien Wilson return in free agency?

Wilson spent 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the following year with the Carolina Panthers. However, his 2022 arrest on an assault charge led to a four-game suspension by the NFL earlier this season, even though he was not on any team’s roster at the time.

Known for versatility, Wilson can play both inside and outside linebacker positions. In his 127-game career, he has accumulated 419 tackles (266 solo), 9.0 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, and 19 quarterback hits.

The Cowboys’ decision to sign Wilson coincides with the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent acquisition of Shaquille Leonard, a three-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro First Team selection, about a month ago.
