Dennis Schröder is presently in the initial year of a reliable two-year contract worth $26 million with the Toronto Raptors. However, a few years ago, during his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, he had the opportunity to secure a more lucrative deal. In 2021, it was reported that Schröder declined a four-year extension worth $84 million.
This decision has faced criticism from fans, who believe he could have earned significantly more by staying with the Lakers. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old player asserts that he would have accepted the offer, stating, “I would never just leave money on the table.
“My mom didn’t raise me that way,” according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. At that time, Schröder was represented by Alex Saratsis of Octagon, but he has since switched agents to Mark Bartlestein of Priority Sports. After his stint with the Lakers, Schröder signed a one-year contract worth $5.9 million with the Boston Celtics, later being traded to the Houston Rockets midseason.
He then returned to the Lakers on a one-year deal worth $2.6 million in the 2022-23 season. Despite the twists in his career, Schröder delivered a commendable performance in Los Angeles last year, leading to his current two-year agreement with the Raptors. In the current season, he has participated in 36 games for the Raptors, boasting an average of 14.6 points and 6.8 assists per game.
