Former UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava committed to the Georgia Bulldogs yesterday. Even though Carson Beck would be back for another season, Maiava would be ready to take over for one of the greatest programs in the country. However, at the last minute, he changed his mind and declared that he would be attending USC instead.
Georgia Bulldogs Lose QB Jayden Maiava To USC
In Athens, the quarterback room appears to be a touch thin. In a shocking move, Maiava abruptly stated that he would instead attend USC. It just goes to demonstrate that nothing is official even after a verbal promise. Players have the option to change their minds and go somewhere else. This is becoming more common among many gamers. They make an announcement, then rapidly reverse their decision. There is a lot of thought that goes into these types of decisions, and some programs make a last-ditch effort that works.

A Curious Decision
I believed Maiava’s decision to move to Georgia was excellent. Because the quarterback room is small, the competition is not as fierce. Maiava appeared to be on a fast track to begin next season. Things are a little more competitive at USC, and it’s unclear whether Maiava will play next year. We obviously don’t know what happened behind closed doors, but the Trojans had to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
For the Georgia Bulldogs, it’s back to the drawing board. While they have a quarterback for next season, they will need to plan for the future.
