Yet another Auburn position coach has exited the team. On Friday morning, Zac Etheridge, who served as Auburn’s safeties and secondary coach, disclosed his departure from the program through a social media announcement. Expressing gratitude for the past three years with the Auburn Family, Etheridge conveyed his excitement about embarking on the next chapter of his career. Despite leaving his alma mater, he conveyed unwavering love for Auburn, foreseeing success under Coach Hugh Freeze’s leadership.
Etheridge acknowledged the honor of developing Auburn men both on and off the field and building enduring relationships with his players. Having spent three seasons as a Tigers’ position coach, Etheridge, a former Auburn player, contributed to the program’s foundation. Freeze commended Etheridge’s relentless recruiting efforts and tireless work ethic, expressing optimism about his promising future in the profession.
Auburn’s performance in the 2023-24 season showcased a tie for third in SEC interceptions and a 31st national ranking in passing yards allowed per game (202.2). Notably, three players from Auburn’s secondary, Jaylin Simpson, Nehemiah Pritchett, and D.J. James, accepted invitations to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Etheridge’s departure follows closely on the heels of former running backs coach Carnell “Cadillac” Williams announcing his exit from the Tigers’ program the night before.
