recent transfers involving Birmingham City; Tony Mowbray is very certain to land his man

Talking Points: Sunderland keep their top six bid on track thanks to Amad's brilliance - Roker Report

Alex Pritchard, a midfield player for Sunderland, is getting closer to joining Birmingham City.

According to Lyall Thomas, a reporter for Sky Sports, Pritchard is getting checked out before perhaps moving to St Andrew’s. He will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Blues, rejoining manager Tony Mowbray, with whom he previously worked at the Stadium of Light.

The unexpected move to extend Pritchard’s contract in January came from Sunderland, who typically waits until March or April to make such decisions since they are more certain of the division they will play in the following season.

After notifying the Wearside club of his choice, Pritchard was not included on Sunderland’s matchday roster for their match against Stoke City this past weekend. “Alex Pritchard informed the club on Friday morning that he was no longer available for selection and he subsequently withdrew from today’s match day squad,” the statement from the club stated.

“The midfield player also declared that he wanted to quit SAFC right now. The club has decided not to speak more at this time.

As he crosses the Championship to the Midlands, the 30-year-old will finally get his desire. Although Colorado Rapids and Sivasspor were mentioned earlier this month as potential contenders, Birmingham City emerged victorious in the competition. He leaves Sunderland after 25 appearances in all competitions this season, five assists, and one goal. With nine goals and 25 assists, Sunderland is the team he has played the most games for in his career.

Jordan James is now expected to stay, making Pritchard the third midfield addition of the window and one of three this month. While Paik Seung-ho completed his transfer earlier this week, Andre Dozzell came on loan from league rivals QPR.
