TJ Hockenson of the Vikings makes a significant decision despite a terrible injury.

With his severe ACL injury, Vikings standout TJ Hockenson was left with no other option.

The 2023 season for the Minnesota Vikings was marred by injuries. Star tight end TJ Hockenson was one of the Vikings players to go down.

In a defeat to the Detroit Lions in Week 16, Hockenson suffered torn ACL and MCL tears. According to Kevin Siefert of ESPN, the tight end had surgery on Monday to repair his ruptured right ACL.

Given that the Super Bowl isn’t even happening, Hockenson will have plenty of time to recover before the upcoming season. Following a catastrophic ACL tear, the tight end’s recuperation will take a while. However, like many other players on their roster, Hockenson’s full recovery and return to become one of the Vikings’ top receiving threats are what Minnesota is depending on.

Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell's heartfelt reaction to devastating TJ Hockenson knee injury

Hockenson played a complete season with the Vikings for the first time in 2023. He grabbed 95 passes for 960 yards and five scores over the course of 15 games. He led the club in receiving yards and set new career highs in yardage and receptions. Hockenson’s touchdown receptions also tied Justin Jefferson for the team’s second-best total.

When the new season begins, Minnesota’s quarterback situation will be uncertain. Due to an injury that ended his own season, Kirk Cousins will be available as a free agency. The quarterback that the Vikings will be throwing passes to Hockenson and company is still up in the air.

Whoever it is, though, will be thrilled to have his tight end back. TJ Hockenson’s return to full speed will take some time. However, Hockenson intends to return to Minnesota and establish himself as one of the league’s top tight ends after recovering from his ACL injury.
