A former NFL scout and draft expert for NFL Network, Daniel Jeremiah assessed and ranked his top 50 draft-eligible talents in advance of the 2024 NFL Draft, which is set to take place in Detroit on April 25–27.

Jeremiah’s Top 50 2024 NFL Draft Prospect List features five Longhorns, including Byron Murphy and T’Vondre Sweat, the team’s outstanding defensive tackle duo.

At number 22, Murphy was the highest ranking Horn in the rankings.

Defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, No. 22

This past season, Byron Murphy became one half of what is perhaps the best defensive tackle duo in college football, helping the Longhorns become one of the best run defenses in the country.

Murphy is a “very explosive, nimble and instinctive defensive tackle” and a “dynamic disruptor against the pass game,” according to Jeremiah.

He proved that throughout the season, turning into the focal point of one of the nation’s best defensive teams. Furthermore, Murphy has advanced quickly on selection boards in spite of his supposed size problems.

That should continue this spring when the combine arrives.

Mitchell shows up as a formidable receiver with exceptional strength, size, and skill level at his position. His powers were demonstrated in a memorable performance against Kool-Aid McKinstry in the September Alabama game, where he recorded three receptions for 78 yards and two scores.

Mitchell kept up his impressive play throughout the season, leading the Longhorns with 11 touchdown catches, including a crucial score in the College Football Playoff Sugar Bowl matchup with the Washington Huskies.

Mitchell has the potential to be a reliable No. 1 receiver at the next level if given the chance.

Jeremiah claims that Sanders has remarkable play speed in addition to a fluid and seamless athleticism. He shows off his wide grab radius and quick seam extension when he travels far down the field, which highlights his abilities in the passing game.

Sanders became one of the best tight ends in college football during the 2023 campaign. If Brock Bowers of Georgia hadn’t been selected, he may have been the first tight end selected this spring. He is an absolute nightmare against opponents and is expected to do well at the next NFL combine, which might raise his price even further.
