Adonai Mitchell to Replace Patrick Mahomes as No. 1 Receiver in NFL Mock Draft?
Quinn Ewers’ ability to throw the ball all over the yard to explosive playmakers made the Texas Longhorns’ offense one of the finest in college football this year.
Adonai Mitchell, a transfer from Georgia, was one of those aforementioned playmakers. He complemented fellow wideout Xavier Worthy flawlessly.
Due to his outstanding performance in his one and only year in Austin, he is creating a lot of noise about the NFL Draft; Diante Lee of The Athletic even projects him as a first-round pick.
Lee predicted that the Kansas City Chiefs would select Mitchell with the No. 31 overall pick. He mentioned Mitchell’s capacity to break up plays and win 50/50 balls over defenders, even speculating that he would rank as a team’s top receiver.
“Mitchell has all the talent to be a No. 1 receiver, but it just hasn’t come together yet,” Lee said. “Mitchell can outmuscle any DB at 6-4 and over 200 pounds, if not against double coverage. Although he lacks complete route-running acumen, he is quick enough to diverge, and his finest work is still produced off of the vertical route tree. Above all, Mitchell possesses excellent hands and a broad catch radius; in 2023, he missed only 1% of his targets.
