With a spectacular start into the 2024 season, Red Bull Ampol Racing unveiled its new livery at a special ceremony held at Toowoomba’s Wellcamp Airport.

Triple Eight Race Engineering’s livery debut was set against a distinctive setting at Wellcamp Airport, near the hometown of recently hired Will Brown.

To commemorate the event, Brown and Broc Feeney were there. Triple Eight decided on a new look for the forthcoming season, which kicks off in Bathurst on February 23–25.

The #87 and #88 Chevrolet Camaros will have a mostly blue appearance, replete with Red Bull’s iconic colors, which have supported the team since 2013.

Supporters of the Camaro team include ACDelco, Ampol Amplify Premium Fuels, JGI, National Storage, New Holland, HP, Harvey Norman, Supercheap Auto, Quad Lock, Wurth, and Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions.
A large crowd was also treated to a variety of partner activations, a “show and shine” exhibition, an aerobatic performance by Red Bull pilot Matt Hall, and burnout and pit stop displays during Triple Eight’s special “Livery Landing” public season opener.

The crew tested both of the new-for-2024 vehicles at Queensland Raceway last week, dressed in the “Livery Landing” promotional colors. On Monday, during preseason testing, the racing livery will make its debut at the same location.

“The automobiles have a stunning appearance. Brown, a pilot himself, remarked, “It’s great to be joining the team and having those iconic Red Bull Ampol Racing colors on my car.”

It’s fantastic to have the automobile in my hometown and to show it off to everyone in Toowoomba for the first time.

“During the week, a number of people came in to my family’s modest used car store in town, inquiring about the launch and expressing excitement about it. It’s been the talk of the town, and it’s fantastic that we were able to make this fun event happen.

“Monday’s team pre-season test day is the next big event for us; it will be wonderful to spend the entire day in the vehicle. We completed the shakedown, which was really an appetizer, so getting the entire day is fantastic.Andrew and I will be working closely together as we go through the standard test plan and I grow more accustomed to driving a car as it’s something new to me. Though it will be a big day, I’m excited about it.

During the event, the team also announced that Jamie Whincup, the team manager, will be joining Feeney again for the enduros, while Scott Pye will be partnering Brown.

Andrew Edwards will engineer Brown, and Martin Short will continue to work as Feeney’s racing engineer in the #88 Camaro. Under the direction of Team Manager Mark Dutton and Technical Director Jeromy Moore, Edwards and Short will work.

The Sandown 500 alongside Whincup was one of Feeney’s five race victories in 2023. “The cars look clean – simple but very effective,” Feeney observed. I’ll be content as long as it moves quickly, but it looks fantastic.

“The team’s return to these significant public debuts is fantastic. This year, I think we really stepped it up and worked hard to make sure it was a fantastic event, and everyone was really supportive of it, including the staff, members, fans, and team partners.

“We had an excellent practice session this past week, and we were able to go over a few items in preparation for our exam on Monday. The cars have a somewhat different aero package, but other than that, it’s simply a matter of getting back to work and figuring out what we have in the toolbox and what we can do better than the previous year. We’re hoping that Monday’s practice day will help us improve before the season begins.
Whincup, who joined Triple Eight in 2006, was excited to share the team’s updated approach to the occasion.

“What a fantastic occasion-Toowoomba has truly brought it on for us today,” said the seven-time Supercars winner.

“We were really proud of ourselves for closing Wellcamp Airport for a fun-filled family day featuring race cars and planes in front of thousands of people. It was an unbelievable experience.”

“I’m extremely proud of the guys and girls at Triple Eight, as well as our enduring co-naming rights partners Red Bull and Ampol, for their tireless efforts in making this event a huge success for the local community. This season launch is the biggest we’ve ever seen from a Supercars team.

“With Broc and Will, I think we have the most exciting young driver lineup the series has ever seen, and our ‘Livery Landing’ is off to an exciting start this season. I can’t wait to get to the Mountain for Round 1.”

The Thrifty Bathurst 500 dates are confirmed for February 23–25, and tickets are now available.
