Daniel Jeremiah, an NFL Network draft expert and former NFL scout, has analyzed and graded his top 50 draft-eligible prospects ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, which will take place in Detroit on April 25-27.
Five Longhorns have made Jeremiah’s Top 50 2024 NFL Draft Prospect List, including the team’s top defensive tackles, Byron Murphy and T’Vondre Sweat.
Murphy led the Horns in the standings, finishing at number 22.
Adonai Mitchell, ranked No. 34, is a standout wide receiver with great size, tenacity, and sophisticated abilities. A outstanding effort against Kool-Aid McKinstry in the September Alabama game, when he had three catches for 78 yards and two scores, demonstrated his ability.
Mitchell proceeded to showcase those abilities throughout the season, leading the Longhorns with 11 touchdown receptions, including a crucial score in the Sugar Bowl against the Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff.
Mitchell has the potential to become a real No. 1 receiver at the next level if given the opportunity.
No. 43 Wide Receiver, Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy has an average height and a slender frame, but despite these physical ‘limitations’, he remains one of the best wide receiver prospects in the draft.
Worthy, the Longhorns’ leading receiver in 2023, led the team in receptions and yards, totaling 75 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns. And, according to Jeremiah, he looks like a taller version of Cardinals great receiver and former Oklahoma Sooner Hollywood Brown.
No. 48 Defensive Tackle T’Vondre Sweat.
T’Vondre Sweat was probably the Longhorns’ MVP this season, earning unanimous first-team All-American honors and the Outland Trophy, among numerous other accolades.
Sweat’s superior qualities as a ‘block-eating’ tackle and proficiency in run defense make him a potential difference-maker at the next level, according to Jeremiah.
