Joe Worrall was available from Sheffield United, but by the time Nottingham Forest accepted the offer, Mason Holgate had been signed by the Blades.
Before the transfer window closed, Worrall was heavily expected to leave Nottingham Forest due to interest from Sheffield United and Leeds United.
The defender was desired on loan by both teams, but Nottingham Forest didn’t change their mind until the last day of the transfer window.
It has surfaced that Sheffield United made a bid for Worrall, which Nottingham Forest accepted.
But by the time Forest agreed to the offer, Sheffield United had already finalized the terms of a defender Holgate’s loan from Everton.

Worrall may yet be able to get away from the City Ground.
Worrall is being pursued by Turkish teams Trabzonspor and Besiktas, where the transfer window is still open.
They need to reach a deal with Nottingham Forest by Friday in order to persuade Worrall to relocate to Turkey.
