Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed his opinions over whether or not AC Milan management should decide to keep Luka Jovic’s contract through June.
On the last day of the 2023 summer transfer window, Jovic left Fiorentina on a free transfer to join Milan. Although he wasn’t Milan’s top aim by any means, he has recently been playing well.
After scoring the game-winning goal against Frosinone on Saturday, Jovic now has seven goals in 19 appearances. However, since the majority of those goals came from the bench, his average contribution is really one goal for every 103 minutes of play.
He is compared to Daniele Massaro, who frequently had to settle for a bench seat while at Milan in the 1990s but scored several crucial goals as a substitute, by Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan).
The Serbian international is now Milan’s additional attacker, and he keeps repaying Milan for their belief in him.
His contract expires at the end of the current campaign, but Milan wants to tie him down since Zlatan Ibrahimović strongly supports keeping him, and Milan has an option to extend it until June 30, 2027.
