The Reds suffered a depressing 3-1 setback to their championship rivals after seeing their lead at the top of the league sliced by the Gunners.

The defeat of Liverpool has caused a lot of backlash, and the title picture suddenly appears less clear than it has for the most of the season.

This is your weekly summary of Liverpool FC news for Monday, February 5.

A litany of ugly defensive mistakes saw Liverpool lose 3-1, as the attacking line struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane delivered a harsh evaluation of Liverpool’s performance on Sunday, saying it was a day to forget for the Reds down south.

“In terms of the intensity from the first whistle to the last from Liverpool, in possession and without, I can’t believe how bad they were,” Keane stated following the game.

TAXING AWAY THE TITLE TALK

After Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp was keen to emphasize that nothing had actually changed for the team, and the German manager predicted that there will be many surprises this season.

Even though Liverpool’s advantage at the top of the table has been reduced to two points, Klopp declined to be dragged into discussions following the game on the significance of the outcome in regards to the championship battle.

“Now that [Manchester] City has two games left, I am not anxious. We anticipate that they will win every game. Really nothing changes,” Klopp remarked. “We would have loved to win here but we were not good enough.”

BAYERN MUNICH TO JURGEN KLOPP?

There has been a lot of talk about what Liverpool will do once Klopp leaves, but there are also persistent rumors about what the current Reds manager will do.

Although the former Borussia Dortmund manager is probably going to take a year off from management, Manuel Neuer, the legendary goalkeeper for Bayern Munich and Germany, believes that Klopp would be a fantastic match for Die Roten as well as the national side.

“I don’t think FC Bayern has anything against that, because he’s a renowned, very good, experienced, tactically astute coach who has gained big respect from all footballers and athletes and I believe that he’s definitely a potential candidate who could work for Bayern at some point,” stated Neuer.

“Perhaps he no longer wants the day-to-day business—I can see him maybe being the national team coach one day,” he continued. Naturally, that is mostly up to him.”

DIOGO JOTA GIVES LIVERPOOL TEAMMATE A TON OF PRAISE

Thiago Alcantara, a colleague from Liverpool, is the most technically skilled football player Diogo Jota has ever played alongside.

After missing nine months due to injury, the midfielder finally returned to first team action against Arsenal, and the Portuguese coach showered him with praise.

Number one on Jota’s list was Thiago, who is undoubtedly one of the most technically gifted players of his time. Portugal teammate and Man City star Bernardo Silva was also included.

Jota said, “Thiago Alcantara,” when asked who of the players he had played with had the finest technical skill. Clearly, in my opinion, Liverpool is Now when I think about the national squad, I might have suggested Bernardo Silva, but Thiago is a worthy choice!”
