The defender for Newcastle United is currently on loan to Swansea City in the Championship.
Harrison Ashby, the right-back for Newcastle United, is expected to miss more time due to an injury he sustained while on loan at Swansea City.
The 22-year-old returned to Tyneside for treatment after missing ten games between late November and early January due to a hamstring problem.
Ashby did not play in The Swans’ 1-0 home loss to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, although he did play last month against Southampton, Leicester City, and AFC Bournemouth.
Luke Williams, the manager, has disclosed that Ashby is expected to be sidelined for the next few weeks due to a muscular issue. Williams mentioned, “He has a muscular problem, so he is going to be out for a few weeks. We are unable to provide an exact timeline at this point.”
Newcastle acquired Ashby from West Ham United in January 2022, envisioning him as a potential long-term successor to Kieran Trippier. However, the dynamics may have shifted with the summer signing of Tino Livramento for £32 million.
Despite joining in January, Ashby has yet to make a competitive appearance for Newcastle. He did participate in pre-season, scoring in the 2-1 victory against Rangers and featuring in the Premier League Summer Series against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ashby’s future with the club will be reassessed upon his return from Wales this summer.
