Burnley’s Vincent Kompany acknowledges that his team had to strike the correct balance in the January transfer window between permitting players to depart and not running out of alternatives.
It follows the loan departures of Turf Moor’s Connor Roberts and Anass Zaroury, who joined Leeds United and Hull City, respectively, on deadline day.
Despite being the stars of the Championship championship victory from the previous season, the pair has had difficulty finding consistent playing time in the top division this year.
They both stated that they were eager to go out and gain some game experience as a consequence.
Zaroury earned his Hull debut last weekend in their 1-0 victory over Millwall, but Roberts will have to wait until Leeds’ home game against Rotherham United on Saturday.
With David Fofana joining him in East Lancashire for the January window, Maxime Esteve and Lorenz Assignon made it a hectic deadline day for the Clarets.
The three in? Kompany said when asked what he thought of Burnley’s end of the window. You witnessed their actions against Fulham.
Regarding the outgoings, equilibrium is key. A lot of players need and desire game time, so it’s important to strike a balance so that you don’t shortchange yourself. However, we also owe it to the players to provide them with the chance to play if they need it.
“We also need players who are completely focused on the task at hand, and we achieved that to some extent.”
