Breaking News: Texas Rangers top star may not accept a two year deal on plate appearances and MVP votes, according to Heyman

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Texas Rangers and outfielder Adolis Garcia have reached a deal on a two-year contract to avoid an arbitration hearing.
According to Heyman, Adolis Garcia will receive a guaranteed $14 million over the course of two years, with escalation dependent on MVP votes and plate appearances.

Garcia contributed significantly to the Rangers’ 2023 World Series victory by hitting many crucial home runs during the postseason. The Rangers will benefit from not having to deal with one of their key players through arbitration for the next two years.

It will be wonderful for the team, the player, and the fans not to have to worry about that for a few years, but the Rangers and Garcia may still end up in an arbitration hearing in 2026. Garcia can now start spring training and concentrate on his goal of making another run with the Rangers.

Garcia is a compelling narrative. Baseball Reference states that he made his Major League Baseball debut in 2018 with the St. Louis Cardinals, appearing in just 21 games. He didn’t make a comeback to Major League Baseball until 2020, when he made three appearances with the Rangers. Garcia has been a vital member of Texas’ squad since 2021, and in 2023, he and the club as a whole truly clicked.
According to Baseball Reference, Garcia hit.245 with a.328 on-base percentage and a career-high 39 home runs in the 2023 season, demonstrating his importance as a member of the Rangers’ starting lineup among players like Marcus Semien and Corey Seager.

With Garcia’s contract set for 2024 and 2025, it will be intriguing to watch how the Rangers, Garcia, and the team perform in their attempt to win the World Series.
