Sandy Clark doesn’t have the money to splash, but he can become stronger in the summer.

Burnley signing Joe Bevan doesn't mean Albion Rovers are suddenly rich, says boss - Daily Record

Joe Bevan’s big move from Albion Rovers to Burnley has left Sandy Clark with little money to splash, but it will give him the opportunity to get stronger.

This is encouraging for the Cliftonhill manager, who wants to give Rovers some stability and momentum to help them move up the Lowland League standings.
However, Bevan’s transfer to the English Premier League team does not instantly bring Bevan money to the Coatbridge club.

“It’s an amazing move, and I’m really happy for Joe,” Clark remarked. It has been much too much for the 19-year-old to take.
“He’s a gifted player who has put in a lot of effort, and I worked very hard to make sure the Burnley move went through, but nobody is going to gain a ton of money from it.

“Some people think we’ve got a lot of money from the deal, which we really haven’t, but Albion Rovers will get a kick-on if Joe does well down there, so we’re well protected. We also wish Joe the best of luck.””I’m not just going to throw money away, so if the right player comes up then I’ll certainly try and get them, but that’s more likely to happen in the summer than right now.” “It gives me scope to strengthen, but it’s the timing and where we need it.”

Rovers’ 4-2 loss against Civil Service Strollers eliminated them from the Lowland League Cup. Clark’s team will now attempt to advance in the league by playing a doubleheader on Tuesday away at Broomhill and on Saturday at home.

“The benefit of not playing in the cup this weekend is that it allows us some extra time to play the games we’re behind, which is this week,” he stated.

“To be honest, Broomhill isn’t having the greatest of seasons, but they’re an experienced team, so it will be challenging for us.

The back-to-back nature of the games is a little odd, but we’re content enough to accept it as the way things have worked out.

“We’ve been attempting to establish a little bit of consistency throughout the team.

“I am aware of our weaknesses and our areas of strength, and we are working to improve.”The goal for the next two weeks is to get some momentum in the league. Following last night’s game, we have three home games, so there’s a good potential for us to score some points and advance in the standings.

At the break, Rovers trailed 2-0 to Strollers; goals from Bright Prince and Devan McColl pulled them level, but it wasn’t enough.
