CBS Chicago – Rookie Connor Bedard will not be available for the Chicago Blackhawks’ home game against the New York Rangers on Friday or for any upcoming games.
A month has passed after Bedard’s jaw surgery. The six-to eight-week recuperation period was the original plan.
Luke Richardson, the head coach, stated that it is quite improbable that the rookie sensation will beat that schedule.
“I think it’s not going to probably be before six weeks, as much as he wants it to be,” said Richardson. “Aside from contact exercises, he’s improving in practice now that he’s out. I believe he’ll be ready to go after he completes a few sessions, since he spends a lot of time in the gym and on skates. He just has to get used to seeking contact and avoiding it, bracing for it and being ready for it.”
Without a doubt, the Hawks could use his offensive. Only three to nine had passed after Bedard’s fall. In those 12 games, they have managed just 16 goals, and during their current five-game losing run, they have suffered three shutouts.
