According to Diego Torbes, Michail Antonio’s deal from West Ham to Gremio has fallen through due to medical examinations.

On 8 February, a South American writer who follows the Brazilian side stated on Twitter that the Hammers forward was about to depart the London Stadium after agreeing to a deal.

However, the knee injury that is presently holding him out of play for David Moyes [Premier Injuries] scared Gremio off, and they opted to withdraw since he was expected to be a costly purchase.

The position appeared to be a priority entering into the window, but the majority of the work was focused on signing Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.

Strikers will undoubtedly stay at the top of the agenda until the season is over, but for the time being, the Irons cannot afford to lose any of their attacking alternatives.

In other West Ham news, a London Stadium figure may now be permitted to bring his brother to the club after the board gave him complete support.

 

The Brazilian transfer window is open until March 7 [Andy Newport 1 February], therefore the deal may have been completed after the UK deadline on February 1.
