Michael Beale explains ‘unique’ thing he loves about one ‘impressive’ Sunderland star

Michael Beale has highlighted what particularly impresses him about Jack Clarke since the player joined Sunderland two months ago. Even before Beale’s appointment, Clarke had attracted interest from clubs such as Burnley, Brighton, and Crystal Palace. Despite this, Clarke has shown no signs of slowing down, continuing to make a positive impact.

In the nine league games under the new manager, Jack Clarke, the winger, has notably scored four goals and provided three assists, contributing to a total of 18 goals for the season. Despite interest from Lazio in the January transfer window, Sunderland turned down bids for Clarke. A move to the Premier League seems highly likely for the winger in the upcoming summer, but he has expressed his contentment with being at Sunderland.

Clarke is anticipated to play a pivotal role in Sunderland’s push for the playoffs this season, showcasing exceptional performance thus far. Michael Beale, speaking to the Sunderland Echo, emphasized that aside from Clarke’s contributions in the final third, he has observed significant improvement in the player during his brief time with the club.

“Now that I’m working with him, I can tell that he’s really fit, that he wants to develop, and that he asks questions. By simply implementing some of my advise, his defense has improved since I’ve been here. He doesn’t hide at the pivotal moments of the game; instead, he stands up for his teammates and club. He is composed in front of the goal. Though I wouldn’t want to draw comparisons, I would say that he is an impressive young guy in addition to being an impressive football player.

How has Jack Clarke improved?

Jack Clarke’s prowess in front of goal was unquestionable, but before Michael Beale took charge, the attacker had only managed one assist. In the 23 Championship games leading up to Beale’s arrival, Clarke’s assist tally was limited. However, in the last two months, he has registered three assists, showcasing a facet of his game that he excelled in during the previous season but only recently brought into action this time around. The improvement could also be attributed to the collaboration with his attacking teammates.

Interestingly, despite Clarke’s continued growth, there is a sense that the team is not as reliant on him as before, indicating a more balanced and collaborative approach to offensive contributions.

Although Jack Clarke continues to be a significant contributor to the team’s goal tally, there is a noticeable increase in ball movement down the right-hand side for Sunderland. The team appears to be adopting a more collective and team-oriented approach to their gameplay. While Clarke’s exceptional talent undoubtedly plays a crucial role, the overall shift toward a more collaborative style of play suggests that Sunderland’s success is increasingly becoming a result of collective efforts rather than reliance on individual brilliance.
