After it was announced that Morris was leaving the Rams to go to Atlanta, rumors regarding Staley’s future started to circulate. With a return to the Rams, Brandon Staley “may get to stay in LA,” according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Departure of Rams' Raheem Morris sparks Brandon Staley-LA reunion buzz

The Rams DC have a ton of interesting alternatives, including Chris Shula and Brandon Staley. Rams may also take a wild card here, according to Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated.

Naturally, following one productive season as the defensive coordinator for the Rams in 2020, Staley received his big break. He used that one season as a springboard to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers for almost three seasons.

However, poor performance and a devastating loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in mid-December forced Staley to take a jobless position. He could now return to the place where it all began for him.

Is Staley still in the Rams’ league?

Given how his time with the Chargers ended, Staley would make an intriguing Morris replacement.

Remarkably, under Staley’s leadership, the Chargers’ defense was the one that consistently let them down. Staley called plays for a defense.
Staley was hired following a 2020 year in which his Rams unit led the NFL in yards allowed as well as points scored, but he was never able to settle down with the Chargers.

Rather, Staley’s defense consistently let Justin Herbert and the offense down, which finally resulted in his dismissal.

Even though Staley is a well-known player and was successful in Los Angeles under Sean McVay in the past, it is unclear if the Rams should be making this reunion.
