Burnley, Brentford, and Everton will determine Moyes’s future.
David Moyes’s position at West Ham is extraordinarily safe and comfortable. As the board continues to explore giving The Scotsman a new deal, Moyes can unwind and focus on his next two games.
The reason I bring up the next two is that Burnley is the Hammers’ third opponent, and if Moyes hasn’t won by then, I don’t think he could handle a loss to them. It raises the issue of whether he can defeat Brentford or Everton.
Yes, of course, but it won’t be simple and will depend on Lucas Paqueta’s recovery. In his post-Forest press conference, David Moyes acknowledged as much, talking on the team’s failure to find a game-winning pass.
It appears that West Ham will find it difficult to defeat anyone in the league without the Brazilian. Both Everton and Brentford will be smelling blood as they prepare to tackle The Hammers. West Ham did not respond to Forest manager Nuno’s predictions prior to the team’s defeat in the Premier League this past weekend.
Which raises the issue of whether Moyes’ squad will perform any differently against Everton or Brentford. I can only presume that he will stick to the same strategy because his post-match remarks indicate that he was happy with the way the squad performed.
As neither the management nor the tactics will be changing anytime soon, I suppose it’s a question of buckling in and hope for the best.
