In advance of Saturday’s match against Hull City, Luke Williams has provided a comprehensive report on his injured stars.
Right-back Sam Parker is hurt, and Swansea City manager Luke Williams believes it’s doubtful he’ll play again this season.
Williams acknowledges there’s a high chance the teenager, who has excelled since making his full debut at Coventry City, won’t be fit for the whole of the current campaign after missing the previous several weeks due to a hamstring injury.
He said, “He’s going to be a while.” “While I sincerely hope he returns this season, it’s likely that he will require more time to reach our desired destination. Because he is young, he heals quickly. Therefore, he is doing appropriately.”
With right-backs Josh Key (muscle) and Harrison Ashby (hamstring) still recovering from injuries, the news raises even more questions about Swansea’s right side.
Josh is progressing as anticipated, according to Williams. “But I can’t offer you anything more juicy since he’s still too far away. He’s not participating in any kind of training. He’s still not here yet.
“Harrison is incorrect. We still need to improve on that a little bit.”
Ashby has had a difficult time in south Wales due to injuries thus far, but hopefully this most recent issue won’t be a long-term issue.
“It’s a challenging one,” Williams continued. “I’ve heard that he’s had a difficult start to the season. Then, he has already experienced a few setbacks since my arrival. Thus, the youngster finds it quite aggravating. However, all we can do is help him, treat him properly, and try to get him back on the field.
“We communicate with Newcastle frequently. They believe that he is still a young player and that his injuries have been unlucky. They’re also making every effort to assist him. But in the end, he’s with us, and it’s our primary duty to assist him in regaining his physical condition, supporting him through his training regimen, and helping him return to the field.
“Hopefully, it won’t last long. However, these matters can occasionally get a bit more intricate. You can have a lot better notion of when the players will resume full-time training once they are back on the field for all but training.”
After suffering a recent quad injury, Harry Darling is back on the grass, but he is unlikely to play in Saturday’s trip to Hull City. Meanwhile, Azeem Abdulai has returned to the gym in an attempt to recover from a hamstring injury.
All of this indicates that Kyle Naughton will start on the right side of defense for the trip to Humberside once more. Williams is confident that the 35-year-old can handle the demands of the next three-game week, despite the fact that the veteran star hasn’t made back-to-back first-team outings since December 2022.
When questioned about Naughton, he replied, “He can cope.” “He is a purebred. He participated in the Premier League since there were no free tickets available. He’s a boy with athletics. Because of how intelligent he is, he can play without encountering too many challenging circumstances. Naturally, we must take care of him in the same manner as we would a 20-year-old who hasn’t played as much. However, he’s a great player and will be able to handle it.”
Liam Walsh and Jamal Lowe, however, are still out of the running, but it’s unclear when they will be ready.
He said, “Liam is still fighting hard.” “He hasn’t arrived yet. Regretfully, he hasn’t yet been outside on the grass. He is fighting valiantly. Despite all of his obstacles, he has a positive mindset and is making every effort.
“Jamal is developing well. I’m unable to provide you with a timeframe for that again since he hasn’t been on the grass yet.”
Better news, though, about Josh Ginnelly, who returned from an Achilles rupture with a positive report.
As he continues his recuperation, the winger shared a video of himself on a treadmill on social media. Although early signs had indicated that he would miss the entire season, Williams believes there is still a chance he might make a comeback to the starting lineup before the current campaign ends.
Williams continued, “He’s been really enthusiastic in keeping his spirits up.” This represents a positive move on his part. He’s excited to be able to use the treadmill at least, and he walks with a bounce in his stride.
“I believe that he could make a comeback before the season ends.” However, a lot has to happen in between now and then. He is exactly on time. The treadmill was a significant advancement. Before moving on to the next phase, we must watch to see whether there is any negative response to it.”
