Jobe Bellingham believes Sunderland is an ideal environment for personal development, despite rumors of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Newcastle, expressing interest. The 18-year-old, who joined the Black Cats from Birmingham in the summer and committed to a long-term contract, has played in 30 out of 33 league games this season, showcasing noteworthy performances.

However, the teenager expresses his enjoyment of life at Sunderland and emphasizes the valuable lessons he has acquired during his eight months with the club. Bellingham spoke to That’s Football, highlighting the incredible atmosphere on matchdays and describing Sunderland as the ideal place for personal growth. He shared that he has learned the importance of maintaining a balanced emotional state, given the passionate and emotional nature of the club, with many people deeply caring about its success.

“In the Championship it’s game after game, so when you do lose it’s not the end of the world, although it can feel like it, especially at this club where it means so much.”

Bellingham has contributed five goals and one assist for Sunderland in the current Championship season, and with 13 games remaining, the Black Cats aim to mount a late surge for a spot in the play-offs.

When asked about his individual goals, Bellingham expressed the primary objective of helping the team regain its place in the Premier League. On a personal level, he set a target of achieving 10 goal involvements at the beginning of the season, and he believes he is on track to meet that goal. Bellingham emphasized the importance of consistently contributing with both goals and assists, recognizing that such contributions are crucial in securing victories for the team.

Bellingham expressed his enjoyment of playing regularly in the Championship, stating, “I’m loving it. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play consistently for such a fantastic club and alongside great teammates.”

He acknowledged the regular challenges of the league, noting, “I feel like I’m improving every other week. While there are occasional tough games, it’s part of the expected experience. Given my age, adapting to the demanding nature of the league and accumulating minutes can be tough, but I believe that in the long run, it will be highly beneficial for my development.”
