Breaking News: Two Wigan pensioners in court accused of historical child sex offences

A pair of Wigan retirees made an appearance in court on accusations related to past child sex offenses.
Around November 1987 and November 1997, David Aspinall, 66, of Bluebell Avenue, Beech Hill, was charged with three counts of indecent assault and three counts of gross indecency towards a girl under the age of fourteen; between November 1989 and November 1991, he was charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency towards the same girl; and between November 1992 and November 1993, he was charged with both crimes.

The accused is 72-year-old Richard Wikinson of Gidlow Lane, Beech Hill, who is accused of having intercourse with the minor between November 1992 and November 1993.
In addition, Aspinall is charged with gross indecency and indecent assault on a different girl under the age of fourteen from March 1988 to April 1989.

On February 28, Aspinall will appear before Wigan magistrates, and on March 27, Wilkinson will appear before Bolton Crown Court.
